Invitation to the Conference

 On behalf of the conference organisers  - the Public Board for Development of Low-Emission Economy created upon a decree of the Deputy Prime-Minister and Minister of Economy,  Waldemar Pawlak,  I  would like to invite to the conference :

VIII International Conference POWER RING 2012 – Energy Policy 2050 – strategic directions: Options for ensuring  energy security and promoting investments in low-emission power sector 

14th December 2012, 9.00 a.m., in the Ministry of Economy in Warsaw.

 

We would like to advise, that this year’s conference will be inaugurated by the speech of the Deputy Prime-Minister and Minister of Economy, Waldemar Pawlak, on the Polish Energy Policy 2050, presenting a so-called “energy four pack”, which encompasses an update on the existing Energy Bill, Gas Bill, RES Bill and Transmission Corridors Bill. 

During the four session of the conference  the following issues will be discussed:

  • Energy policy of the EU – particularly new regulations on shale gas extraction, support for trans-border connections, price formulas for imported fuels;
  • Directions for development of European energy market (fossil fuels, gas, electric energy, heating) – technologies, investments, market trends and consequences for industry and end-users;
  •  Polish policy regarding low-emission investments as well as National Investment Plan;
  • The role of construction sector in the development of low-emission economy.

 

The lay-out of the conference foresees  that each session will be inaugurated by the key-note speech of the high-level representative of Polish/European government or European Institution, and will be followed by the panel discussion with prominent representatives of various business spheres, opinion-forming institutions and  members of the parliament. Said panel discussions  will  be moderated by well-known journalists. We foresee key-note speeches from Maria van der Hoeven, Executive Director of International Energy Agency and Edward Jonathan “Ed” Davey, Secretary of the State  for Energy and Climate, United Kingdom,  as well as Marcin Korolec, Minister for Environment, Poland.

The first session will be inaugurated by Maria van der Hoeven, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency, who will present the New Energy Outlook 2012

All together, we expect that the conference will host 30 speakers/panelists, 400 participants, around 70 journalists. In addition, the conference will be transmitted on-line on the portals  of the Ministry of Economy, Energy Regulatory Authority, dailies  “Rzeczpospolita” and “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, as well as several business portals. We estimate the number of viewers to reach forty  thousand internet users.

We would also like to invite you to take part in the first Public Hearing of the Public Board for Development of Low-Emission Economy, which is scheduled as the concluding session of the conference. During the Public Hearing members of the Board will present results of their work on the National Programme for Development of Low- Emission Economy in Poland.
