Power Ring Conference 2009

Date:
09 December 2009 (Wednesday)

We would like to invite you to become acquainted with substantial materials and the video report from the V International Conference:

POWER RING 2009 – The Clean Energy of Europe
9 December 2009, 8:30 – 15:30, Gas Museum, ul. Kasprzaka 25, Warsaw

Dear Sirs, we kindly thank you for your interest in our Conference. Regarding the fact that we have received a lot of entry forms we needed to close the participants list on 15th January 2010. We are sorry for all inconvenience and would like to thank for all willing to participate for their patience and understanding.

We have the pleasure of inviting you to participate in the fifth edition of the open, international Power Ring conference, which undertakes to discuss the most up-to-date topics relating to issues of key importance to the European energy sector.
In the perspective of the upcoming COP 15 summit, we would like to analyse Poland’s current status in light of decisions of the European Commission. We are certain that Poland, as well as the majority of the other EU Member States, wants to and can achieve the ambitious goals that were set in connection with signature of the assumptions of the European Energy and Climate Package and reconstruction of the economy so as to make it compatible with the norms set out in the relevant directives.Viewing energy and industry as interconnected areas, we would like to find an alternative for the dramatic phenomenon of migration of high-emission branches of industry to areas that are not encompassed by the requirements of the Package. We will also discuss means of successful reduction of GHG emissions, and will contemplate the business reality in respect of achieving the set limits and whether closure of old installations is a viable solution.
Taking into account the current global recession, we will analyse the possibilities afforded by trans-border connections for the cost-cutting plans of Polish and European businesses, and will also discuss the current macroeconomic uncertainty and legal conditions that could help lower the risk of investments and investments mechanisms.
The conference will also be the first event of its kind at which the legislative solutions of Great Britain and the US in respect of energy efficiency, as well as the Swedish concept of efficiency - ‘waste to energy’ – will be presented and discussed. Together with the participants of the event, who include prominent personalities from political spheres, the energy and industry sectors, public administration, scientific circles and the media, we will concentrate on the ways in which these examples can be used to the benefit of the Polish energy sector and for reduction of emissions without harming the Polish economy.
We are certain that an open discussion will allow all of the main problem areas, as well as the best solutions allowing for vital changes to be made to the direction in which exploitation of the sources of Poland’s potential for creation of its energy-related future is going, to be identified.
You are warmly invited to participate!
